MARR Announces Training Partnership with The Fletcher Group

MARR has long understood the need for and value of training and educational programs for house managers (peer leaders), operators and others involved in managing a recovery residence. We have been successful in arranging access for our members to a variety of programs offered by experts in the field and programs offered by neighboring NARR affiliates. Unfortunately, we have lacked an easy-to-navigate training site with a wide variety of useful topics.

Until now.

MARR and the Fletcher Rural Group Center of Excellence have teamed up to make available their entire catalog of courses to our members. This access, at no cost to MARR, is available to all house staff, operators, and residents. Not only will our affiliate members be able to enjoy these programs, but the site will also host programs that we have produced, such as the much-acclaimed, So you Want to be a Peer Leader in a Recovery Residence, and a highly-praised program from Dr. Corrie Vilsaint of the Recovery Research Institute, Recovery Residences, How We Know They Work.

Each program is followed by a brief quiz (knowledge assessment – easy-peasy) and a program evaluation. Your course completions are tracked…there is even a leaderboard to rank your learning progress and encourage completing the curriculum. As of today, there are 38 programs that one might find interesting. Some of the available topics include: Introduction to the NARR Levels of Recovery Housing, Urinalysis from a Resident’s Perspective, Nimbyism, Overdose Response Teams, Why Evaluation Matters to a Recovery House, Insurance for Recovery Housing and additional topics on conflict resolution, preventing MAT-related discrimination and many more.

The Learning Center can be accessed from the Operators tab on the MARR website. Here is the direct LINK. Once you click on the JOIN button, you will be brought to a registration page on the Learning Center Site. The software is called UMU (You, Me and Us) and it is a delight to use. When registering, please be sure to indicate your position/involvement with recovery housing and to include your zip code so we can keep track of how many Maine users access the site. This is an important contract obligation for MARR (and will keep the site free of charge).

We will be building content on the site and the Fletcher Group plans to add new and useful content as well. Feel free to suggest course topics that you would like to see in the future.

We are indebted to Fletcher Group founder, Dr. Ernie Fletcher and Dr. Karen Coburn, Grant Project and Communications Manager (site administrator), for allowing MARR to be the first NARR affiliate in the country to open the site to its membership and allow posting of content. Thank you!
